From your pile of paper to a working site, in five business days.
Every customer walks the same path. A human is in the loop at every step that matters.
-
1 · You send us what you have.
Upload PDFs, scanned books, photo albums with back-side captions, typed transcripts, obituary collections, church or school yearbooks, oral-history notes. If it’s on paper, mail us the box and we’ll scan it for you.
Guarantee: you’ll know within one business day whether the material is enough to build a site we’d stand behind. If it isn’t, we refund the setup fee and tell you exactly what would help.
-
2 · We extract text from every page.
OCR on scans. Direct text extraction on digital PDFs. Layout-aware so a captioned photo album doesn’t come out as gibberish.
Guarantee: nothing is summarized or paraphrased before the admin sees it. Every fact has to trace back to a page.
-
3 · Structured extraction.
People become rows. Schools, churches, jobs, clubs, and other organizations become rows. The relationships between them — who taught whom, who worked with whom, who attended what when — become rows of their own.
Guarantee: every row carries a citation. The source quote that backs it lives in your account next to the fact, forever.
-
4 · Human accuracy pass.
The admin reads every document a person reads, spot-checks twenty random records against the source, and corrects what’s wrong. This is the most expensive step. It’s also the one we will not skip.
Guarantee: more than 10% factual errors on the first-pass site and we refund your setup fee without argument.
-
5 · Site stands up.
We render your family’s site from the structured data. Default theme. Your family name on it. A tree visual, a people grid, an organizations grid, a relationships discovery view, a century-scale timeline, and an editor for you and your relatives.
Guarantee: five business days from your first upload, or two if you’re on Heritage.
-
6 · You explore, edit, and invite.
We email you a magic link. You log in, look around, fix anything you spot, invite your aunt, share the URL with cousins. The site stays yours; we keep it running, keep it backed up, keep the AI editor learning your family’s names.
Guarantee: you can export a full ZIP — site HTML, structured data, source PDFs, full edit log — from your account at any time. No friction, no retention window.
What we handle vs. what you do.
| We handle | You handle |
|---|---|
| Text extraction from every file you send. | Sending us material we can actually work with. |
| Structured extraction of people, places, and relationships. | Approving the first draft of the site. |
| Human accuracy pass and corrections. | Inviting family members. |
| The site build and the hosting. | Writing the stories only you know. |
| The AI editor and its source-anchored suggestions. | Approving or dismissing the suggestions. |
| Updates when you send us more material later. | Telling us when something needs fixing. |
What good source material looks like.
- A printed family history (self-published or commercially printed).
- A typed or scanned biography of a relative.
- Photo albums with back-side captions.
- Obituary collections.
- Church or school yearbooks and directories.
- Oral-history transcripts.
- Typed notes a relative kept in a notebook.
Photos alone aren’t enough. We need words. If most of what you have is captions, that’s plenty — we can extract a remarkable amount from a well-captioned album.
What we won’t do.
- Invent facts that aren’t in the documents.
- Make up dates we can’t source.
- Connect two people the documents don’t connect.
- Write a biography that says things your grandmother didn’t say.
- Let the AI editor write to your data without your approval.
The line we don’t cross is on every page of this site. It’s the whole point of charging $299 to set up a site instead of giving it away.
Start with what you have.
If your material is thin, we’ll tell you before we charge.
