Kara Grossinger runs KG Homestead — 150 birds across 8 to 9 breeds — out of her place in Frederick with her husband Daniel and their two kids. She's the rare neighbor with a Maryland egg-handler permit and the appetite to do the paperwork. She built Homestead Keys so her own eggs could share shelf space with the neighbors she's known for years, and so the ones who don't have permits yet could get walked through it.
