Terms

The agreement between you and the 1891 Teleprompter. Plain English. The intent here is the contract.

What you're paying for

A subscription that includes use of the prompter, the script editor, the alignment engine as it arrives in later phases, and any monthly voice-mode quota on your plan. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay until you change plans.

What you own

Your scripts are yours. The settings you configure are yours. The recordings you make outside the prompter are yours. We do not use your scripts to train models, sell to advertisers, or build a cross-account graph. You can export every script you've saved as a ZIP from the account page at any time.

What we own

The prompter interface, the alignment engine, the recognizer, the brand, the templates, the build pipeline, the trademarks. If you stop subscribing, you stop using the service — but you walk away with your scripts and your recordings.

What we promise

  • The prompter scrolls at the pace you set. If it doesn't, that's a bug and we treat it as one.
  • Sign mode is unlimited on every paid plan.
  • Voice mode runs against the monthly quota on your plan and we never auto-charge an overage. If you hit the cap, you get an honest message and the option to upgrade or wait for the calendar-month reset.
  • Default-private. Your scripts never appear in marketing, in case studies, in our customer list, in screenshots, or anywhere public unless you ask us.
  • Fourteen-day refund window from the day you first pay, no questions. If we substantially break a feature on your plan and don't fix it within ten business days, you get a full refund for the period that includes the break.

What we don't promise

  • That the alignment engine recognizes every sign, every word, every accent, or every fingerspelled name. The engine is best-effort; the prompter always falls back to the baseline scroll so a missed anchor never freezes you.
  • That the voice-recognition vendor is available at every moment. When it isn't, the prompter falls back to manual scroll and tells you why.
  • Forever-free access. The seven-day trial is the way in, and after it you keep paying or you stop using the service.
  • Custom enterprise terms or BAAs for HIPAA-covered workflows. Studio (Phase 5) will include a path for organizations that need that; the standard terms here do not.

Acceptable use

Don't use the prompter to deliver content that's illegal where it'll be delivered. Don't use it as part of a workflow designed to defame a specific person. Don't try to extract our model weights, our alignment heuristics, or our recognizer training data. Don't share your account with users who haven't paid; if you need team access, Studio (Phase 5) is the path.

Refunds and cancellation

Cancel inside the account page in two clicks. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then. Within fourteen days of your first paid charge, email teleprompter@madeby1891.com from the address on the account and we refund the period in full. After fourteen days, refunds are case-by-case — break-of-service refunds are a yes, "I changed my mind" refunds depend on how much of the period has elapsed.

Account termination by us

We can terminate an account for unpaid invoices, for acceptable-use violations, or for sustained abuse of the recognition vendor (we get billed per minute; we'll talk to you long before we terminate). If we terminate, you get your scripts exported and a refund of any pre-paid period that hasn't been used.

Liability

We provide the service as-is. To the extent the law permits, our total liability for any claim is the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or the consequences of a delivery the prompter helped you make. Some jurisdictions don't allow that exclusion; where they don't, the law applies.

Changes to these terms

We can update these terms. If a change materially reduces what you get for what you pay, we email every account with at least thirty days' notice and you can cancel before the change takes effect with a pro-rated refund. We won't quietly downgrade the deal.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States. Any dispute that can't be resolved by talking it through goes to the state or federal courts located in Frederick County, Maryland.
