Do captions really stay free?
Yes. Live captions for everyone at the table are free — up to five hours every month, with just your name and email to pull up a chair. Long Table raises the limit to a hundred hours (enough for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day) and adds saving and revisiting the conversation later. Hours reset at the start of each month.
Why do you ask for my email?
So you keep your seat across devices, can get your transcript, and — only if you opt in — the occasional product update. We never sell it, and you can unsubscribe from any email in one tap.
Do my guests need an email too?
On a free table, everyone gives an email to create or join. On Long Table, your guests join with no email at all — that's part of what your subscription buys. You (the subscriber) never re-enter anything either.
Does everyone need the same device?
No. Everyone uses their own device — that's the point. Each person opens the table on whatever screen they have and reads along.
Where do the captions come from?
Live captions are generated from speech as people talk. Captions are additive — the table stays readable for everyone, and you never have to caption sign language.
What does Long Table save?
The text transcript of your table — labeled by speaker — so you can download it anytime, not just during the meal. The audio itself is never stored.
What is Room Read?
On Long Table, Room Read adds the part captions miss: tone. It shows the table's overall mood and quietly flags when one person's tone is off from the room — like a polite-looking line that's really sarcasm. The host turns it on, the whole table is told it's on, and any reader can hide it on their own screen. It's a soft cue, not a verdict — and nothing about your conversation is stored to do it.
